We have been contemplating a herding dog since we moved last year, because we have small children, who are, when playing in the woods right outside our door, cougar bait. not only that, but i watched something chasing down deer two evenings ago just 100 feet from our back door. Could have been a dog, a cougar or a wolf. It was almost dark, and all i could tell was three deer at full speed followed by something with a tail. This increased my desire to obtain a dog that would be with the children at all ties and protect them if need be. I have been told that Pyrenees bark non stop, but are otherwise great dogs. Do you agree? My thoughts center around our animal loving son Jim, whose birthday is in late July. If we got such a dog, it would likely be a birthday present to him.
Claus Looks a LOT like Sonata, our Great Pyr that we had for years here in TN. We loved him- But we *did* have an issue- they ARE night barkers...but other than that- they are INCREDIBLE Dogs!! Brianna, when she was in the 4th grade- she took ours thru her 4-H training course, and he won 3rd place in the STATE for AGILITY!! (Now watching a Great Pyr compete with these teeny tiny dogs on all of the apparatus is Truly remarkable!!) But they are loving and protective- and are Perfect dogs for a farm!! We are looking for a Samoyed Breeder now...I am going around full circle it appears. But I love the pics- Thanks for sharing!
